Will you be with me?

It has been almost a year that we have been experiencing an altered world due to Covid 19. During this time the work with my clients has shifted. I have held space for many working through current and past traumas, and this poem reflects what many express to me.

Will You?

In my darkest moments I need someone to be with me.

Will you be with me?

Will you listen while I weep?

When I blame myself for things gone wrong?

When I sink into the lowest depths of inward pain?

Will you be with me when the world is gone wrong

And when I hate myself and

Can see no hope?

Will you be with me when I wallow in my pain?

Will you sit beside me and hold my hand?

Will you be with me when I tell the stories of love and fear?

When I share my deep regrets and wish

I could have done things differently?

Will you be with me?

Will you walk along side me as I wander along

The path

When I am not sure where my path leads?

Will you be with me when I don’t make sense?

When my ramblings take me into a different world?

Will you be with me when I am angry and won’t listen?

Will you tell me when I’ve gone too far and need to rethink?

And will you wait for my answer

And wait for my return

And tell me you care?

Will you tell me honestly my behaviour is not kind but still be with me?

Will you call me even when I’m sad and pained and hard to hear?

Will you be with me?

When I know you’re there in good and sad. I begin to believe. I begin to have hope. I believe

I am worth it.

When you are with me, I don’t give up.

When you are with me, I have hope. Just a twinge.

Just enough to make it to the next day.

Just enough to know.

You are with me.
