On Sat. June 1, 2019 I will be hosting an introductory Zentangle workshop.
Zentangle is a great activity for creativity and mindfulness. Mindfulness is a common theme these days. It focuses on being present in the moment, helping us set aside thoughts about the past and worry about the future.
Creativity is also important. Creativity is the key to solving problems; learning how to make mistakes and be more self-accepting. Creativity is a positive aspect of fun and pleasant activities. Creativity and play are part of one another. Creativity encourages us to play with ideas, art materials, solutions. Play helps us practice solutions, variations on themes, and practice with art. Play is fun. Play is healing. When we play we practice, make mistakes, solve problems and change.
As kids, we often played - with toys, friends, art materials. This was how we learned and grew. However, as we became adults, we forget how to play. We expect ourselves and others to make the right decisions without practice. We expect people to have it correct the first time. We dismiss the learning and practice that comes from playing.
Zentangle is all about playing and being creative. It teaches us how to accept simple activity. It encourages making mistakes and learning from them. Zentangle encourages being in the moment and learning from the simplicity of pen to paper. Zentangle is about mindfulness, play and creativity.
Join me and have a relaxing and inspiring afternoon learning Zentangle.
Non-Artists are welcome and encouraged to participate!
